This blogger has been open about wrestling promotions outside of Southeast Asia. Recently, this fan added the Norwegian Wrestling Federation out of Oslo, Norway to the list. My friend, Junior, has mentioned of other wrestling promotions in the region. Sweden and Denmark are two areas of the world which pro wrestling has been thriving.
I've started with Sweden this post. Over the nearly two years of the blog, Sweden has read the posts numerous times. The blogger feels that the country should never be ignored when it comes to local independent wrestling in the country.
There are, at last check, six different promotions in Sweden. One of the ones mentioned is a group called Svensk Wrestling.
The promotion began in 2005 as GBG Wrestling with their first show happening in March 2005 in Gothenburg. Balkanmarko was the original owner of the promotion and continues being the owner today.
In October 2021, GBG Wrestling changed their name to the current name, Svensk Wrestling. This is not to be mixed up with another promotion, Svensk Wrestling Syd. That is a promotion that I will share in another post.
Svensk Wrestling has two championship titles, a Svensk Tag Team Championship and a Svensk Wrestling Championship. Levi Petrus and Linus Sebastian are the Tag Champions while Valentine is the Wrestling Champion.
Wrestlers who appear at their shows include El Vecino, Steinbolt, Connie Mejsel, Cliff Pettersson and more.
It appears that wrestlers from nearby countries (Finland and Denmark) are occasionally at their shows. Also, the promotion hosts an average of four to five shows a year.
Their last show, SW Best Of The Best in December was well attended and was exciting according to the fans. Their next show is an All Ages Show on Saturday, February 15th with another show, Electric Boogaloo, the following Saturday. Most of their shows are at Pustervik, a performance venue.
