History - The Manila Wrestling Federation was an independent wrestling promotion founded in late 2014.
Their first launching as a company (per Wikipedia and Cagematch) happened in August 2016. The event sponsored by the History Channel was HistoryCon. It featured wrestlers from MWF as well as Singapore Pro Wrestling. The venue was the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Beginning in 2017, there would be several shows at the Makati Cinema Square Arena in Makati. The company would relaunch in February 2018. The show was named MWF Open House Level Up at the UP Film Studio, UP Dillman. The company would continue to provide shows right up until the time of the Covid pandemic in March 2020.
In December 2021, MWF would resume its shows with the event, MWF Medyo Noche. The company would continue with several taped (for later viewing) and the Lubreng Lucha Livestream.
MWF
would have shows from 2021 through early 2024 at the Peta Theater
Center (Quezon City), Brawl Pit Bulusan (Quezon City), Doreen Black Box
Arete (Ateneo de Manila University), Fitness Playground (Quezon City),
QC Memorial Circle (Quezon City), PMC Spotlight Theater, Circuit Makati,
Mandala Park (Mandaluyong) and UP Film Institute Media Center (UP
Dillman).
Also, in 2023, MWF would secure television time on a new channel, Rock Of Manila TV. This would enhance viewing throughout Manila and the Philippines.
Unfortunately,
on May 25, 2024 (per Facebook), TBT Multimedia Production, posted on
MWF's Facebook page of its decision to close the promotion.
