Aksyonovela TV

For those who have had a chance to see the Manila Wrestling Federation shows live, having a chance to see them either on GANK and/or Rock Of Manila TV is a plus.

Since last year when starting to follow MWF on a regular basis, the quality of the shows have been very good.  It definitely reminds this fan of the early days of The Territory Era in the 1960s-1970s.

This fan didn't have the luxury of the internet to watch wrestling shows back then.  There was no social media like Facebook.  It was watching wrestling on television Friday nights for one hour.  It was live in a television studio.  The fans would get a sense who would be wrestling at a large venue such as the Cow Palace once a month.

Television was definitely a major tool back then as it is today.  The other tool was looking through the entertainment section of a local newspaper. It would show an advertisement of the upcoming show the previous Sunday.

This fan, and hopefully all of the kapafeds and wrestling fans alike, have appreciated what the Manila Wrestling Federation has done.  William, Tarek, Veronica, the staff, and the MWF locker room (wrestlers and managers) have busted their tails for all of us.  Getting Rock Of Manila TV on the airwaves in the Philippines has enhanced the number of viewers throughout much of the country.

Some of the other promotions in Southeast Asia are using You Tube, Premier Streaming Network and other tools for their shows.  This is good news for any wrestling fan.  Also, social media outlets such as Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram are as well.  Anything to get the word out is a plus!

Finally, this fan is excited to see that next month's 2023 Noche Buena is closing in on a sellout at the PMC Spotlight Theater.  This year for MWF has definitely been a good one and things are looking up!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in less than four weeks in and around Circuit Makati.  If you see me, please say hello.  It will be special!

Manila Wrestling Federation Update

While waiting on the upcoming MWF show, Noche Buena, there is plenty of things to watch.

Rock Of Manila TV and Gank (streaming) are still showing episodes of the Tuloy And Laban series that took place in September.  Please check on where and when the episodes take place.  I believe in the Metro Manila area, Rock Of Manila TV is on Channel 6!  The channel can now be seen in most of the country.  To the Pinoy wrestling fans seeing this, please let your friends know this bit of information!

Also, soon, there will be episodes of this past Sunday's Todos Los Wrestling show that took place at Mandala Park in Mandaluyong.

Finally, I didn't mention this in the last post.  Since it is now out, I'll share it.  Hong Kong Pro Wrestling Federation wrestlers, Ho Ho Lun, Bitman and Michael Su will all be appearing at the Noche Buena show in December.  Ho Ho Lun is a former MWF Wrestling Champion who has wrestled all over Southeast Asia and was with WWE.  It should be a very interesting afternoon and evening at the PMC Spotlight Theater.

Tickets are going quickly as I mentioned in the last post.  Please check the Manila Wrestling Federation page on Facebook for more information.

Pinoy Wrestling And The Direction

As a fan of pro wrestling in Southeast Asia and Pinoy Wrestling in the Philippines, I will quickly share my thoughts on all three wrestling promotions in the country.

The Manila Wrestling Federation has been tremendous in getting the word out throughout the Philippines, and for that matter, the world.  This fan has seen it over the past year but the seeds were planted before this.

There are some Southeast Asia countries right now that are using streaming systems like the promotion's own, Premier Streaming Network and others.  There is also You Tube that some promotions use as well.  The tools are definitely there.

Not everyone is taking advantage of this though.  Hopefully, one day, iy will change.  It is up to the promotion to promote and communicate with its fans.  This includes everything from promoting a show all the way through providing results (even if they are delayed due to promoting a show on television, You Tube and/or another streaming service). When there are no results at all, and no desire to share it to its fan base and wrestling fans what happened, then, in my opinion, the promotion is not successful to its wrestling fans!  Just saying here.

Back to the Manila Wrestling Federation, ever since becoming a blogger, and more important, a fan of the promotion, they have been great.  This fan abides by holding up results until all the shows are televised and wrestling fans get a chance to see the product.  This has never been an issue.  I see the bigger issue and that is more fans seeing something that they didn't know about.

Because of Rock Of Manila TV, I believe somewhere in the neighborhood of around 90 million or more people can see an MWF show that was live just within the last month.  That is huge compared to the promotion's start in 2014 and relaunch in 2018.

This blogger believes that the last several shows were sellouts, if not close to it.  The 2022 Noche Buena show was nearly a sellout, and the first show I saw outside of America.

Also, a shoutout to Filipino Pro Wrestling.  They had a series of shows beginning in February called FPW: Astig.  Going back about six weeks ago as of this post, the promotion began putting their shows on You Tube for fans to view.  The product has been good.  This fan has seen the numbers and is encouraged with their direction.

The wrestlers with FPW have, each week, encouraged fans to watch the upcoming show.  Since this is a post, each new episode can be viewed every Thursday at 4pm Philippines time.

Each episode has two matches and they run approxiamtely 35-45 minutes in length.  Definitely not too short and not too long.

When seeing the last FPW Astig show in August, the fans were boisterous as they are at an MWF and a WUW - Philippines show.  Filipino Pro Wrestling believes that this is the correct way in going forward with their product.  There is no reason to question the direction they are going.

I want to mention World Underground Wrestling - Philippines as well.  WUW - Philippines is a small promotion that has the makings to rise.  Though they are likely on a very small budget, the recent August show at the Brawl Pit Bulusan was definitely successful.

There were wrestlers, not from just the Philippines, but Singapore, and I believe Malaysia that were there.

The Meet And Greet, a sport collectors exhibit, a coffee shop named S. Brewed Cafe and a wrestling show, all in the same day last August was worth the price of admission to this fan.  It was quite an experience and something that hopefully will happen again soon.

As 2023 closes and 2024 is on the horizon, Pinoy Wrestling is definitely on the rise.  No question here!

19 October 2023

Manila Wrestling Federation

This fan's first wrestling show in Southeast Asia was a memorable one.  It happened on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at the Peta Center in Quezon City, Philippines.

The event was the 2022 MWF Noche Buena show. A very near sellout crowd packed the venue and saw nine terrific matches including one for the MWF Pinoy Wrestling Championship.  Fabio Makisig defeated the previous Champion, Jake de Leon for the championship.

This coming Sunday, October 22, the two will stage the rematch for the title at the MWF Todos Los Wrestling event.  The venue is at Mandala Park in Mandaluyong.

The promotion since the end of the pandemic early in 2022 has skyrocketed.  Thanks to the team of Veronica Litton, William Elvin, Tarech El Tayech, Patricia Ligaia, Sonny Go, Romeo Moran and Mr. Sy, MWF is leading the way in the Philippines.  The major shows are happening three times a year with (Republika, Road To Fate and Noche Buena).  Several other shows like Todos Los Wrestling and Tuloy Ang Laban, for example, are shows that lead up to the major ones.

Early this year, the Manila Wrestling Federation secured a television spot on a new channel in the Metro Manila area.  It is known as Rock Of Manila TV.  Roughly most of the population of the Philippines can see MWF a couple of times a week now.

Also, GANK, a streaming service, will show current and past MWF shows.  One needs to be a subscriber of the streaming service.

Also today, the shows are happening at the PMC Spotlight Theater in Circuit Makati and Mandala Park in Mandaluyong.

For more regarding the title and champions, please look for the MWF page that is listed on the top and on the right side of the page.

Manila Wrestling Federation - MWF can be found on the Facebook page.  Also, all Southeast Asia promotions will be listed on the blog both at the top and the right side.
