Blog Changes

Recently, this blogger started a blog in addition to this blog.  The title was Pinoy Wrestling History.  It was to share information and results from all the modern day wrestling promotions in the Philippines.  It's an ongoing project, and am doing it, for one reason.

This fan loves wrestling history.  I've found that databases such as Wikipedia, Cagematch and Wrestledata are good.  However, at times, they are incomplete!  Well, instead of complaining about it, this fan intends to do something about it.

The new blog is actually now incorporated into Pro Wrestling Today.  All the regular posts from the deleted blog are now posted in the pages section of this blog.  If one looks at the top and right second of the blog, you'll see the different pages.  Please feel free to check it out.  That is not all.

Other than PWR (which I'm working on currently), most of the results are complete with the exception of FPW (I have partial results there).  Soon, the results will be posted in the pages section as well.  This is not all either.

Since this has been a Southeast Asia blog, my intentions are to get as many results from other promotions as possible and get them on this site.  Again, the three databases mentioned are good, but they could be better.

For example, there is something incomplete right now regarding the SETUP 24/7 Title.  It isn't a major title.  However, there's a question as to who is the actual titleholder.  This blogger will have the answer probably next week since SETUP Thailand has a show on the weekend!

This blogger loves doing this blog and it's for everyone worldwide.  When checking, no one currently is doing a wrestling blog in Southeast Asia.  I'll keep everyone updated on the progress.

One final note, and this is important...  If anyone sees an error on any match result, please FM me on Facebook and I'll correct it ASAP!  I want this project to be correct for everyone!

Thanks everyone and please enjoy!

Masahiro Takanashi

From left to right, Chris Brookes, not sure who the lady is, Chris Brookes and Jake De Leon at the Meet And Greet prior to the Dexcon Wrestle Storm show.

In doing this post, I'm thinking of everyone who has been affected by Typhoon Carina that hit the Philippines over the past few hours.  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this time.

I've wanted to do a post on someone who has helped Southeast Asian wrestling over the years.  Tajiri is the first to come to mind.  Before doing one on Tajiri, my second choice, Masahiro Takanashi came to mind as well.

Masahiro Takanashi is a wrestler who works for the DDT Pro Wrestling promotion.  The 41 year old veteran has wrestled mostly in Japan.  However, he has also wrestled in the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand among Southeast Asian countries.

The two things that blew me away was the fact that he's won a combination 16 titles in his career.  Definitely impressive!

Also, if Cagematch is correct with the statistics, Masahiro Takanashi has wrestled in 2374 matches!  That is impressive considering he has wrestled since 2003.  Despite the years missed due to covid, he has averages over 100 matches per year or once every four days.  Any wrestler who has done that has to be durable.

This blogger talked with some fans who were at the Dexcon Wrestle Storm show earlier this year.  Takanashi along with Chris Brookes were the featured match in the show.  They took on a very quality team in Jake De Leon and Dabid Ravena.  It was a weekend to remember for Pinoy Wrestling fans.

Filipino Pro Wrestling Update #4

Two more pro wrestlers have been added for Filipino Pro Wrestling's show.  The event is FPW: Astig to be held at the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater on Sunday, February 11th at 2pm.

The "Dark Wolf" Matt Walters and "The Mad Doctor", FPW's Jan Evander will be in action at the show.

Would like to share a little about Matt Walters.  If this is the Matt Walters that I looked up on Cagematch, he's a freelance wrestler from Hunstanton Norfolk, England.  His resume is impressive as he has won four different British Championships, singles and tag team in his career.  He has wrestled in a couple of promotions such as Ultimate British Wrestling and Wrestle Force in the U.K.

This fan is impressed with "The Mad Doctor" Jan Evander as well.  Though, I didn't get a chance to see him last year at the last FPW: Astig event, I have seen him on video.  His amazing high flying maneuvers are definitely exciting for the fans who have seen him.

There will be another post or two on any event updates for the show.

With less than a week to go, tickets for the event are still available.  Please check the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling page on Facebook as well as the ticket2me website on ticket availability.  Thank you.

Some History Regarding MYPW

Malaysia Pro Wrestling is in its return in the Southeast Asia region.  While awaiting on what happened in their latest show, this wrestling fan was looking back at their progress.

According to Cagematch, it appears to the database, that their first show happened on December 8, 2018 with an event called MYPW WrestleNation.

However, looking further back, like to September 2015, there was am event called PGMania.  There was another event in November called Clash Of The Titans, a three day show.  Heading the show were today's stars in Shaukat, Poppy, Gotham and Emman The Kid.

MYPW was doing very well through the years 2016 through the early portion of 2020 probably with five to six shows per year.  Things were definitely going well.

Then on March 13, 2020, one of their upcoming shows would be limited to a small audience.  After the show, because of the rapid spread of the pandemic, shows were obviously put on hold.

It wouldn't be until February 2023 when MYPW would be involved in a wrestling show once again. The promotion would take part with Grapplemax Pro Wrestling in Singapore known as Causeway Jam on February 11.

Then the following weekend, they would host their first show known as New Breed on February 18th.

After a seven month gap, Malaysia Pro Wrestling has come back with two shows in September with Footy SZN and this last weekend with an event called Journey To Gold.  Everyone hopes that the two shows will be on the way back to normal for the popular promotion.
