Masahiro Takanashi

From left to right, Chris Brookes, not sure who the lady is, Chris Brookes and Jake De Leon at the Meet And Greet prior to the Dexcon Wrestle Storm show.

In doing this post, I'm thinking of everyone who has been affected by Typhoon Carina that hit the Philippines over the past few hours.  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this time.

I've wanted to do a post on someone who has helped Southeast Asian wrestling over the years.  Tajiri is the first to come to mind.  Before doing one on Tajiri, my second choice, Masahiro Takanashi came to mind as well.

Masahiro Takanashi is a wrestler who works for the DDT Pro Wrestling promotion.  The 41 year old veteran has wrestled mostly in Japan.  However, he has also wrestled in the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand among Southeast Asian countries.

The two things that blew me away was the fact that he's won a combination 16 titles in his career.  Definitely impressive!

Also, if Cagematch is correct with the statistics, Masahiro Takanashi has wrestled in 2374 matches!  That is impressive considering he has wrestled since 2003.  Despite the years missed due to covid, he has averages over 100 matches per year or once every four days.  Any wrestler who has done that has to be durable.

This blogger talked with some fans who were at the Dexcon Wrestle Storm show earlier this year.  Takanashi along with Chris Brookes were the featured match in the show.  They took on a very quality team in Jake De Leon and Dabid Ravena.  It was a weekend to remember for Pinoy Wrestling fans.

Dexcon Wrestle Storm Update #2

Hello everyone!

Just a few hours ago, it has been announced by Pumi of SETUP Thailand and match maker, Linus Santos of Wrestle Storm that a major announcement has been made.

The main event between the   Calamari Drunken Kings, Chris Brookes and Masahiro Takanashi, and Oro Plata Mata's, Jake De Leon and Dabid Ravena is NOW going to be for the IWA Japan Setup World Tag Team Championship!!!

Fans, if you have not bought tickets for the Meet And Greet on Saturday, March 23rd beginning at 12 noon, the show on March 24th at 6pm, or both, NOW is the time!

Wrestle Storm Update

Dexcon's event, Wrestle Storm, will take place the weekend of Saturday/Sunday, March 23-24th.

Matchmaker, Linus Santos, who is becoming one of the top matchmakers in the region, has come up with another tag team match for the March 24th show!

The team of Oro Plata Mata (MWF Pinoy Wrestling Champion, Jake De Leon and teammate, Dabid Ravena) will face the Calamari Drunken Kings (Chris Brookes and Masahiro Takanashi) in the second of two tag matches.

CDK as they are known, and as of this post, are the SPW Southeast Asia Tag Team Champions.  The team has wrestled throughout portions of Southeast Asia and has been a team to reckon with.

This is not to sell Oro Plata Mata short.  The Pinoy Wrestling fans, particularly at Manila Wrestling Federation shows know the capability of Jake De Leon and Dabid Ravena.  They are excellent singles wrestlers.  I've been told by sources that the two have tagged on occasions.  If I were CDK, this is a team not to be overlooked.

The other tag team match is for the WUW International Tag Team Championship.  TZK (Saint John Martin and Ken Cifer) will put the titles on the line against reunited Gemini Kings (ROMEO and Main Maxx).

There will be a Meet and Greet on Saturday, March 23rd at 12 noon at Unbox Greenhills.  The wrestling show will take place on Sunday, March 24th at Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City at 6pm.

For more information on the show and tickets, please check the Dexcon page on Facebook!  Tickets are going well.

Update On The Dexcon Event

CDK will be coming to the Philippines next March!

I've decided to paste the rest of the information so here is the scoop listed below.

The Calamari Drunken Kings (composed of Chris Brookes and Masa Takanashi) will be crashing the party and making their Philippine debut this March 24, 2024 at Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City for WrestleStorm!

Chris Brookes (DDT Pro Wrestling) is a former KO-D Openweight champion and former two-time DDT Universal Champion.
Masahiro Takanashi (DDT Pro Wrestling) has held titles such as the DDT Extreme Championship and DDT Universal Championship to name a few. Masa-san is coming back to Manila after his first appearance in the country back in 2019.

The current SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions have traveled all over Asia to face the best the country has to offer. Now one question remains.. who is ready to step up to the challenge?!

#WrestleStorm is a fun weekend for all pro wrestling enthusiasts. Follow Dexcon for more info.
