MWF: Noche Buena Update #3

Two more matches have been added to the MWF
: Noche Buena show scheduled for Sunday, December 3rd.  The venue is at the PMC Spotlight Theater, Circuit Makati beginning at 4:30pm.  Doors open at 4pm.

There will be a #1 Contender's match for the MWF Pinoy Wrestling Championship.  "Danger" Rex Lawin will take on Hong Kong's Ho Ho Lun.

This is Rex Lawin's biggest opportunity in coveting the MWF title.  One would probably have to go back as far as October 2018.  The new MWF title would have its first champion in December.  Rex reached as far as the semi final round of a tournament to decide a new champion.  In December, he will be in a similar position.

For Ho Ho Lun, he was the second MWF Champion. The Hong Kong Pro Wrestling star won the title at MWF Republika in 2019 and actually never lost the belt due to a pin or submission.  Because of the pandemic, the MWF title was vacated when the pandemic eased.  Ho Ho Lun is now getting his opportunity in getting the title back.

Also, in another match, Brother Jomar Liwanag will take on Aaron Liwanag.  The winner of the match will be the leader of Bahay Ng Liwanag.

There will be a clarification if both matches are done by Manila Rules.  Also, there will be some updates on additional matches.

Tickets are going well for the show.  Please continue to check the Manila Wrestling Federation - MWF page regarding tickets and any updated news.  Thanks everyone!

Frequently Asked Questions

This blogger has been asked lately with the new blog why are there no longer posts on various promotions.  There was a promotion from Finland, one from Australia and the local independents near where I live.

The answer is simple.  This fan wants to focus on Southeast Asia, simple as that.  I've also been asked about why are you doing one with Wrestle Square (India), Hong Kong Pro Wrestling Federation, New Taiwan Wrestling and Middle Kingdom Wrestling (China) when they are not Southeast Asia countries.

Again, the answer is simple.  Wrestle Square, New Taiwan Wrestling and Middle Kingdom Wrestling are very much involved with Southeast Asia wrestling.  Though Wrestle Square is inactive currently, they have several championships in several Southeast Asia countries.  Regarding New Taiwan Wrestling, Hong Kong Pro Wrestling Federation and Middle Kingdom Wrestling, all three promotions work with the numerous Southeast Asia promotions.  I know this from my research and the following.  All three have contacts that I communicate with.  They will very much be a part of this blog.

Regarding the promotions in Finland and in Australia, there were fans that wanted me to put the various promotions on this blog.  After one and maybe two posts, things rapidly deteriated.  There were, at times, communication issues with getting results.  There were times just trying to find out the date of a show.  This has happened on several occasions.  Instead of continuing to get a lack of responses from people, it was this fan's decision to disconnect from the promotions involved.  Perhaps, if there is a complete change with the various promotions, then this blogger may reconsider.

As it is right now, of the 15-16 promotions I do posts on, all but two promotions have been cooperative in the year plus of this blog.  With the two that are being uncooperative, perhaps very soon, those two will likely be deleted off the list.  Don't blame this blogger if your favorite wrestling promotion is not on here!

If you have any questions, please message me on Facebook.  This blogger will listen to all concerns.  Never say never.

Other than this, since the blog restarted last week, more people appeared to be reading it than ever before.  Thank you to everyone who takes the time and to take a peak.  This has never been about me, but for the wrestling fans, wrestlers and those behind the scenes.  I don't look this as a job but a hobby.  And this fan feels it is a fun one!

MWF: 2023 Noche Buena Update #2

Want to keep Pinoy and interested wrestling fans up to date with the upcoming 2023 Noche Buena show.

The event is MWF: Noche Buena.  The date is Sunday, December 3rd beginning at 4:30pm. with the doors opening around 4pm.  The location is the PMC Spotlight Theater in Circuit Makati (Ayala Mall).

Two matches are in place right now.  They are the following:

An eight man elimination tag match between Team Oro Plata Mata (Jake De Leon, Dabid Ravena, Main Maxx and Kurt Jiminez) versus the MWF All Stars (Fabio Makisig, Robin Sane, Nigel San Jose and Danny Zamora).

The stipulation is that the last wrestler who is left in the ring will be the MWF Pinoy Wrestling Champion.  According to sources, per a bet during the conclusion of the Todos Los Wrestling show, if Team Oro Plata Mata loses, the stable needs to disband.

Also, an all four way women's match between Chelsea Marie, Joya, Super P and Patricia Ligaya will take place.  I believe this is the debut of Patricia Ligaya as a wrestler!

Finally, Hong Kong Wrestling Federation's Ho Ho Lun, Bitman and Michael Su will appear at the show in competition.  More on their matches in future posts.

Tickets are going fast, and believe me, I'm serious on this.  There is early bird pricing on this show until November 24th.  Please don't take my word for it however.

Please check the Manila Wrestling Federation - MWF page for ticket availability.  This fan knows that things can change quickly!  Thanks everyone and have a great weekend!

Manila Wrestling Federation Update

While waiting on the upcoming MWF show, Noche Buena, there is plenty of things to watch.

Rock Of Manila TV and Gank (streaming) are still showing episodes of the Tuloy And Laban series that took place in September.  Please check on where and when the episodes take place.  I believe in the Metro Manila area, Rock Of Manila TV is on Channel 6!  The channel can now be seen in most of the country.  To the Pinoy wrestling fans seeing this, please let your friends know this bit of information!

Also, soon, there will be episodes of this past Sunday's Todos Los Wrestling show that took place at Mandala Park in Mandaluyong.

Finally, I didn't mention this in the last post.  Since it is now out, I'll share it.  Hong Kong Pro Wrestling Federation wrestlers, Ho Ho Lun, Bitman and Michael Su will all be appearing at the Noche Buena show in December.  Ho Ho Lun is a former MWF Wrestling Champion who has wrestled all over Southeast Asia and was with WWE.  It should be a very interesting afternoon and evening at the PMC Spotlight Theater.

Tickets are going quickly as I mentioned in the last post.  Please check the Manila Wrestling Federation page on Facebook for more information.

MYPW - Journey To Gold Update

Malaysia Pro Wrestling's Journey To Gold show will take place this coming Sunday, October 29th.  The venue will be the KLCity Arena beginning at 2:30pm.

Besides the MYPW Wrestlcon tournament to determine the next champion, there has been one match added to the show.

Guken will take on Syawal in a singles match.

According to the MYPW page, 'The Love Warrior' Syawal won the hearts of the fans as he put up a strong effort against 'Blazing' Raj at MYPW Footy SZN, but ultimately didn't get the win. Guken also looks to bounce back from his loss against Carlo Cannon.

Both men need a win, who will come out with it?

For more on tickets, and as of this post, they are still available, please check the Malaysia Pro Wrestling page on Facebook for ticket info.

Interview #12 - Thiago (FPW)

When visiting the Philippines back in August, this fan heard some really good things about the wrestler in the upcoming interview.

Thiago is definitely a wrestler to watch.  Seeing pro wrestling for a long time, one doesn't see wins and losses.  It is how the wrestler performs in the ring, the effort and the response from the fan base.  Certainly, "The Gym Bro" from Cebu get the attention from those in attendance.  Watching him in the FPW Astig match against Robynn was not only a solid match for both competitors, but it was a treat for all of us there that day.

This fan wants to thank Thiago for agreeing and wanting to do this interview.  Though he has been in pro wrestling less than a year, fans and his peers know that he has a bright future in the industry.  Certainly, this blogger is in his corner!

Wayne:  Other than the pandemic time, how long have you been a pro wrestler?

Thiago - I debuted on November 20, 2022, so almost a year. I only had 6 matches so far.

Wayne:  When did you believe that you wanted to become a wrestler?

Thiago:  I've always wanted to become a pro-wrestler when I was a kid. I lived in Cebu for 5 years. When PWR started, I was in Cebu and I couldn't train to become a pro-wrestler. When Daniel Bryan came back from retirement, and did his "fight for your dreams" promo, I went back home to Manila so I could train and become a pro wrestler.

Wayne:  What was your favorite promotion when you first followed wrestling?

Thiago:  WWE. At the time, WWE was the only well-known promotion.

Wayne:  Do you have a favorite promotion either locally and/or internationally that you follow? - Locally, of course I love our product, and I watch every match on the card. Internationally, I only watch WWE. I prefer watching them because of the pace, storytelling, and psychology. Sorry AEW fans.

Wayne:  Is there a current and/or international wrestler that you follow today?

Thiago:  I'm a huge Kevin Owens fan and he's my favorite pro-wrestler of all time. So yeah, KO. Recently, Gunther has been making classic matches.

Wayne:  Up to know, what was your most memorable wrestling match that you were a part of?

Thiago:  I only had 6 matches overall, so everything is memorable, but my favorite match that I'm a part of is my most recent match with Robynn. The crowd was really loud and the storytelling of that match was on point. Everything that we envisioned happened. I can speak for everyone for this, but I think every time that we have a show, we all improve. That's what I feel about myself. Every time that I have a match, I keep on improving.

Wayne:  What are your thoughts on wrestling in the Philippines now and its future?

Thiago:  I think the future's bright. There are 2 big local wrestling promotions. MWF has a TV deal, and FPW has a growing YouTube channel that is extremely well produced. I think in 3-5 years, wrestling will be big in the Philippines, as long as we have this undying support from our fans, and us wrestlers continue to grow and improve. Everyone that you see on an FPW show, everyone trains regularly, cuz if you don't, you won't be booked. On FPW, we try our best to give our fans the best product as possible.

PWI's Women's 250

The January 2024 Pro Wrestling Illustrated's Women's 250 issue is now out online and to the public.  WWE's Rhea Ripley is the number one women's wrestler on the magazine's poll.

This blogger was skimming through the magazine and it was a welcome sight to see some women's names from Southeast Asia that are more than deserving.  SPWs - Alexis Lee, Yuki Kamifuku and Yappy were the recognizable names that I saw there.  However, after looking through the list several times,  there was a glaring omission.  The omission is Crystal with the Manila Wrestling Federation.

This blogger knows it's difficult coming up with a list like this.  Seeing the men's list, there was a lot of grumbling going on there.

However, Crystal has had two titles in 2023 in the MYPW Wrestlcon Championship and the APAC Women's Title.  She has faced the top competition in the Southeast Asia region this year.  If I was putting this list together, Crystal would very easily be on my list.

The names I mentioned above deserve to be there.  However, Crystal should be joining them!

PWL Super Show Update #3

Hello everyone!   There have been several updates regarding the PWL Super Show coming up on Friday, February 14th in Australia.   Matt Hayte...
