KOPW Event On Saturday

This fan just learned that there is a match tonight involving KOPW Chinese Pro Wrestling.

If I have this correct, The Lion Dance Brothers (Jason Wong and Shen Fei) will take on Samuel Burgess and Ash DeSilva in a tag team match.  The match will take place on Saturday, November 4th in Foshan, China.  The show will begin at 6pm local time.  The KOPW Tag team Titles that The Lion Dance Brothers have are on the line.

As soon as I get more information, I'll update this post.

Shiho

Shiho about to pin Jin Gae Sung in a match in August 2022.

Not too many people in Southeast Asia have heard the name, Shiho, a pro wrestler in South Korea.  In fact, I didn't know about him either.  That certainly changed when this blogger started following some video late last year.  I started following the promotion, PWS Korea that he wrestles in.

Shiho is a pro wrestler, promoter and trainer for the South Korean promotion.  According to Cagematch, he is 5'7" tall and weighs 170 pounds.  From videos that this fan has seen of him, he is as tough as nails when it comes to the squared circle.  He's quick, strong, has an aerial attack and has won more than his share of matches.  He has wrestled in Korea, America, Japan and China.

Shiho has won his share of titles such as the PWS Title on a couple of occasions.  However, bringing in wrestlers from within and outside the country is one of his major attributes.

The first video I saw of Shiho was on You Tube back in October 2018, about five years ago.  The event was PWS Domination 2.  Shiho faced a tough hombre in Big Money, part of today's Regnant Stable with Middle Kingdom Wrestling in China.

Despite a height and weight disadvantage, Shiho, more than earned this fan's respect.  He wasn't intimidated nore feared by the challenger.  In fact, he went toe to toe with him for portions of the match.  Big Money, thinking he had an easy win before the match ever started, learned some other things that day.  Shiho won by a count out, something that he would have preferred winning by pin or submission.  However, a win is a win.

The promotion he began, PWS Korea, had their first show back in January 2018 with an event, PWS First Show.  Their upcoming event will be PWS Pub Brawl on Saturday, November 18th.  All the best to Shiho and to PWS Korea going forward.

Sky To Defend The Title

Sky, the two time, and current New Taiwan Wrestling Openweight Champion, will travel to Singapore next week.  He will appear at Grapplemax's Seventh Anniversary show and will defend the NTW Championship.

Sky will face Prabu and "Wildfire" Remus from Grapplemax in a Triple Threat match for the coveted title.

As one knows in Triple Threat matches, Sky knows that he has to pin one of his opponents to retain the title.  Let's say, if Prabu pins Wildfire Remus or the other way around, the title changes hands.

I'm not certain if this is Sky's first visit to Singapore, but all the best to him in his upcoming title defense.

Next ROR Wrestling #2 On Sunday!

Looking forward to watching the next Ring Of Rebirth show on You Tube.  It will be shown this coming Sunday, November 5th at 8pm Singapore time.

Please look out for it!

MWF Noche Buena Update #5

There has been one match added to the Manila Wrestling Federation 2023 Noche Buena show.  The event will take place on Sunday, December 3rd.  Location is the PMC Spotlight Theater in Circuit Makati beginning at 4:30pm.  Doors will open at 4pm.

This match will definitely be a good one.  Both wrestlers, training partners, and with World Underground Wrestling - Philippines will be in a tag team match.

Saint John Martin and Ken Cifer will team up against a team yet to be named.  This is a correction from what I posted earlier.

In recent action at the Road To Fate show in August, both Martin and Ken took on tough opponents and won.  Martin defeated Migs Valdez in one singles match while Ken defeated Dabid Ravena in another singles encounter.  Whoever they will face could be in for a tough evening.

General Admission tickets for the event are still available but are moving quickly.  Please continue to check the Manila Wrestling Federation - MWF page on ticket availability and updates!

Grapplemax Seventh Anniversary Show Update #3

There have been a couple of matches added for Grapplemax's Seventh Anniversary show.  The event is coming up a week from Saturday, November 11th.  Venue is as almost always at the Grapplemax Studios at 55 Ubi Avenue.

Before continuing, congratulations to the promotion on the event now being sold out!

The added matches are as follows:

For the NTW (New Taiwan Wrestling) Wrestling Championship, Sky (c) will take on Prabu (of Showtime Inc) and "Wildfire" Remus (of Inglorious) in a Triple Threat match.

Also, Christian and Sarah will face Ban Sachak and one of Singapore's first female wrestlers, TJ, in her long awaited return to action.

Please continue to check Grapplemax Pro Wrestling Singapore's page on Facebook for more announcements before the upcoming show.

NTW's Next Show

New Taiwan Wrestling's next show, Dragon Invasion, will take place on Saturday, November 18th.  The venue is
Zhongguang Dojo :No. 20, Lane 20, Sec. 1, Xingren Road, Zhongli District, Taoyuan City (5 mins walk from Neiang Railway Station).  It begins at 2pm with the doors opening at 1:30pm.

In cooperation with Middle Kingdom Wrestling, The Joker (NTW) will take on MKW's Zombie Dragon.  It will be the first time that NTW and MKW have cooperated to have a show.

I don't know too much about The Joker but have seen video of Zombie Dragon.  The former MKW World Champion is looking forward to this match after recently wrestling in Malaysia.

For more information regarding location and tickets, please check the NTW page on Facebook.

Christian And Jordan

Jordan (L) and Christian at Grapplemax's show, Settle Outside in May.

Writing posts on a blog has some challenges.  You never want to slight anyone.  Doing one about Southeast Asia pro wrestling has more challenges. Since I don't live in a country in the region, one depends on tools.  They are the internet, social media, You Tube and whatever streaming one can find.

This blogger has wanted to do this for awhile.  It was making certain that he had enough data to do it.  Today, this blogger wants to share two young pro wrestlers with Grapplemax in Singapore in Christian and Jordan.

A couple of weeks ago, this blogger did one on Simon Siah that was well received.  I wanted to make sure that there were more on the way.  Christian and Jordan were next.  In the future, Aussie Aussie Aussie and several more wrestlers with Grapplemax will be shared on this blog.

The first time seeing both Christian and Jordan on video, and the same show, was in December 2022 in a show known as Gold Standard - The Final.  Christian would defeat a tough wrestler in Showtime, the champion, to win the Wrestle Square Cruiserweight Championship.  Jordan, and his tag team partner, Simon Siah defeated Ban and DJ Kai in a solid tag team match in the same show.

According to Cagematch, a database that provides wrestling results worldwide, the last time the two wrestlers appeared on the same show was back in February 2020 before the pandemic at an event called Fighting Spirit.

In February 2023, the two wrestlers teamed up in an event called Causeway Jam.  It was a show that would have wrestlers from Grapplemax and Malaysia Pro Wrestling.  Emman Azman and JAGO from MYPW would face Christian and Jordan in a tag team match.

There were a couple of times during the match when Christian and Jordan didn't appear to be on the same page.  This can happen anytime with any tag team.  However, after the match, there would be a disagreement between the two.

It would lead to two matches for the Wrestle Square Cruiserweight Championship over the next several months.  The first one match happened at Settle Outside in May in which Christian retained the title.

The second match was a three way with Christian, Jordan and Simon Siah in which Jordan pinned Christian to win the belt.  The event was called Rolling and it happened in August.

Jordan, now the Wrestle Square Cruiserweight Champion has defended the title once, against Jullian at House Party.  His biggest challenge to date will come up this coming November 11th at Grapplemax's Seventh Anniversary show.  His opponent will be legendary Japanese wrestler, Dick Togo.

The last time seeing Togo in the ring was, I believe, in September at a New Japan Pro Wrestling event called Road To Destruction as a member of House Of Torture.  EVIL, SHO and Yujiro Takahashi are a part of this group.

Christian has done well since losing the title.  In the recent Amplify show, he teamed with Sarah to defeat Ryan and Ban for the win.

Personally, I don't know exactly what led up to the first encounter at Settle Outside.  This fan has followed Grapplemax for several months now.

Certainly, one of the words to describe it would be competition and wanting a championship.  From someone who has followed pro wrestling for a long time, there is always this in every promotion.

Rivalries and disagreements will always occur.  The rivalry between Christian and Jordan is a good one and will grow over the next few years.  Both wrestlers are exciting to watch from this fan's view.  You can tell both of them have worked hard to get where they are at today.  Grapplemax is very fortunate to have both on the roster along with the many young stars that are competing for the fans in Singapore.

I would say that down the line, the two will see each other in the ring again.  This blogger and wrestling fans in Singapore cannot wait to see it.

Aksyonovela TV

For those who have had a chance to see the Manila Wrestling Federation shows live, having a chance to see them either on GANK and/or Rock Of Manila TV is a plus.

Since last year when starting to follow MWF on a regular basis, the quality of the shows have been very good.  It definitely reminds this fan of the early days of The Territory Era in the 1960s-1970s.

This fan didn't have the luxury of the internet to watch wrestling shows back then.  There was no social media like Facebook.  It was watching wrestling on television Friday nights for one hour.  It was live in a television studio.  The fans would get a sense who would be wrestling at a large venue such as the Cow Palace once a month.

Television was definitely a major tool back then as it is today.  The other tool was looking through the entertainment section of a local newspaper. It would show an advertisement of the upcoming show the previous Sunday.

This fan, and hopefully all of the kapafeds and wrestling fans alike, have appreciated what the Manila Wrestling Federation has done.  William, Tarek, Veronica, the staff, and the MWF locker room (wrestlers and managers) have busted their tails for all of us.  Getting Rock Of Manila TV on the airwaves in the Philippines has enhanced the number of viewers throughout much of the country.

Some of the other promotions in Southeast Asia are using You Tube, Premier Streaming Network and other tools for their shows.  This is good news for any wrestling fan.  Also, social media outlets such as Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram are as well.  Anything to get the word out is a plus!

Finally, this fan is excited to see that next month's 2023 Noche Buena is closing in on a sellout at the PMC Spotlight Theater.  This year for MWF has definitely been a good one and things are looking up!

Looking forward to seeing everyone in less than four weeks in and around Circuit Makati.  If you see me, please say hello.  It will be special!
