PUSO Wrestling's First Show!

PUSO Wrestling has announced that their pilot show, Unang Tibok, will take place on Saturday night, August 17th beginning at 6pm.

First and foremost, this is a monumental announcement for Pinoy Wrestling in the Philippines.  A few weeks ago, 20+ wrestlers wanted to continue pursuing their dream in the squared circle.  The previous promotion, that they were involved in, was shut down.

Instead of talking about what led to the end of a promotion, I would prefer to mention the following statement.  "When a door closes, another one opens!"

From what this blogger knows, this group showed, and shows, a lot of character.  It would have been easy to just shut their dream down.  However, as a group, everyone wanted to continue.  Ideas and plans began to surface.  The result was that there would be a wrestling show that would take place.

A few weeks ago, there was an "invite show" that I mentioned in the last PUSO post.  There would be wrestling matches.  This blogger did receive an invite.  Unfortunately, because of recovering from knee surgery, and an upcoming visit to the Philippines, I wasn't able to attend.  This blogger did send a message thanking them for the invite!

There would be a video shown near the end of the evening.  From what I learned, it was to show the pinoy wrestling fans that they missed them during the absence and that they want to "live their dream!"  From my experiences at past wrestling shows, this group, more than appreciates the interaction and the communication of the fans.  Whether it is at a show, a meet and greet, or just on social media, the group responds big time!  The name PUSO Wrestling was announced!

Over the past couple of days, there have been Facebook posts regarding sponsorship.  Please, if you have a chance, to look at it.  If one is interested in getting involved, or know someone, please contact PUSO either by e-mail or Facebook messenger.

When this blogger found out that PUSO Wrestling was going to happen, helping out is paramount right now.  Certainly, this tool called a blog is important.  I've helped out with a little funding with the previous promotion, as well as the DEXCON events.  The hope of seeing a PUSO Wrestling show was important to me.  At the same time, there are things like planning, making sure dates were available.

Yes, this blogger is happy that the show will happen while I'm in the Philippines.  However, I'm more happy to see 20+ wrestlers be able to fulfill their dream.  This blogger is more happy to see the pinoy wrestling fans now have a chance to see their favorite wrestlers that they've seen for the past year (or for that matter 10 years).  That is the way I am.

In closing, if there is one thing I'd like to ask our fans who come to the shows.......please support PUSO Wrestling!  They do this to fulfill their dreams, and, they do this for us!

Will see all of you on August 17th!  Please don't be afraid to say hello.

Another Intriguing Match At FPW's July Astig Show

This blogger has been following pro wrestling for a long time now (55 years or so).  I've seen nearly every type of match that has existed.

Filipino Pro Wrestling will have their next show this coming Sunday, July 14th.  The venue is the Baked Studios and bell time is 2pm.

The Main Event is definitely one to watch.  The YOLO Twins will face FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal and James "Idol" Martinez in a tag team encounter.

This blogger wasn't in attendance at the last FPW Astig show.  There were some things at the show that brought this match on.

This blogger has read some stuff from people that James "Idol" Martinez is not "main event" material.  Some people think that he's not serious enough with his craft as a professional wrestler.  Some fans think that this is a joke!

Obviously, as a blogger, and writer, I look at this differently.  Anyone who gets into pro wrestling has to be serious enough.  There's a lot of sacrifice involved, time spent in and out of the ring, and a lot more.  Wrestlers take bumps in workouts.  Certainly, people such as President, Red Ollero, and Mike Madrigal believe he's worthy for this upcoming match.

I've seen Martinez one time while at a FPW show.  The match he was involved in was at times, comical.  However, he does have talent and is someone not to be taken lightly.  No wrestler in any profession should!

It will be interesting how this match turns out.  I'm sure the YOLO Twins, as great of a team that they are, have their game plan ready to go.  Recently, they wrestled as part of a six man tag match at Grapplemax Pro Wrestling's show in Singapore.  Let's just say that the match they were involved in didn't quite turn out the way they wanted.

Anyway, for more on the show, including tickets, please visit the FPW-Filipino Pro Wrestling page on Facebook.  Thank you.

A Year To Remember For WWE

Today is a different post than what this blogger normally does, which is Southeast Asia Pro Wrestling.

Want to talk about WWE for a moment.  This year, the WWE has done PLE shows in more countries than ever before.  This is really no accident since the company wants to be more global than ever.

This past weekend, WWE and NXT took the show to Toronto, Ontario (Canada) to sellout indoor crowds of near 20,000.  The Scotiabank Arena was the place to be this past weekend.

Next weekend, WWE will do two shows on the south side of America.  Mexico's - Mexico City and Monterrey will have two Super Show events on Saturday / Sunday, July 13-14.  The promotion was in Mexico last year before sellout crowds and it appears that WWE is at a fever pitch this time!

Since I do posts on Southeast Asia wrestling, recently, I've thought about sending WWE an e-mail regarding an Asia and Australia tour.  European tours are good and the fans in Scotland, England and Germany have responded big time!

Having a show in Australia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, China and Malaysia would be great, not only for the wrestling fans of the countries mentioned, but the promotions themselves.

Let me draft a letter or e-mail and see what can be done here.....

PUSO Wrestling's Pinoy Wrestling Night

Very recently, this blogger had an opportunity to read a post by Rowen Camacho, a huge wrestling fan in the Philippines.  Rowen is part of a weekly Podcast called The Wrestling - Wrestling Podcast.

Before going any further, please be patient since this post is a bit long.  My apologies but will try harder to shorten future posts!

There was an invite event (yes, this blogger received an invite!) from a new promotion.  An announcement was made a few weeks ago that PUSO Wrestling has been formed!  Pinoy Wrestling Night, which was the invite, would take place at the Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City.

Because of obligations, and a soon-to-happen vacation in the Philippines, I wasn't able to attend that night.  However, this blogger wanted to go badly.  With the announcement that PUSO Wrestling having a show possibly in August, hopefully when there in August, there will be a show.

Rowen, along with Emile, Stan, Romeo and Chino are great wrestling fans.  I haven't been on their podcasts live of late (but will very soon!).  Their knowledge is superb, whether at the local scene, or world wide.  Rowen's description of the Pinoy Wrestling Night gave the fans a picture of what happened that evening.  Here were the results of matches from the show...

Mani Maxx d. Dabid Ravena and Danny Zamora in a three way match.

Super Friends (Super P and Patricia Ligaia) d. Isaiah Valencia and Joey Rosas.

Jake De Leon d. Chelsea Marie.

Fabio Makisig and Joya d. Aaron Liwanag and The Acolyte.

Nigel "Suplex" San Jose d. El Kapitunero.

Rowen mentioned that Nigel San Jose cut a promo after the match.  He mentioned that the wrestlers missed the pinoy wrestling fans since April when MWF closed shop.  The show ended with the name of the new promotion, PUSO Wrestling.

There are two things this blogger wishes to do here.

First, here is the link to The Wrestling-Wrestling Podcast.  Thank you to Rowen for this post.  It is really appreciated here.  Hopefully the Pinoy Wrestling fans enjoy the content of the podcasts that is produced.  Please support the podcast in any way.

Second,  the link to PUSO Wrestling is below the final paragraph.  Right now, there has been a brief announcement that the promotion will have a show in August.  Please be on the lookout regarding the date, time and location of the pilot show.  In advance, congratulations to PUSO Wrestling on the huge announcement!  The promotion needs our support.  Please like and follow their page!

This blogger will do his best to continue and support Pinoy Wrestling, now, and moving forward.  All the best to both entities!  Thank you.

One Feature Match At FPW's July Astig Show

Hello everyone!

As most of you know, Filipino Pro Wrestling's next show, FPW Astig will take place this coming Sunday, July 14th at 2pm.  The location is the Baked Studios in Makati City.

One of the seven matches on the show is one that should be a really good one.  They are two former champions that were with the Philippine Wrestling Revolution brand.  We are talking about "The Blessed One" - Chino Guinto vs. "The Slingblade" -  Dax Xaviera.

This blogger has seen both wrestlers on You Tube video.  He had a chance to see the two in separate singles matches last August at the final FPW Astig show.

The difference in the two separate matches I saw was that one match was well officiated (Dax's match) while the other one (Chino's match) wasn't.  Mistakes happen in pro wrestling and it's part of the business.  However, everyone in attendance that day saw that Chino's shoulders were not pinned at the count of three.  It wasn't even close.  It was botched!  This blogger didn't mention this in the post last year but nearly a year has past since.  I can now talk about it.

For those who aren't aware of what's happening, Chino Guinto wants to be considered as championship material.  Simple as that!  He feels the best way for this is to climb the ladder of opponents to get an FPW Championship title opportunity.  He has made a bet that if he loses anytime prior to the championship opportunity, he will retire from in-ring competition!  Mr. Ollero has imposed the stipulation as a result.

For Dax Xaviera, this is a huge opportunity too.  It appears that he's on a similar path as Chino.  He hasn't had a championship in awhile as well.  Looking at some video, he has stepped up his training.  It doesn't appear that he is taking Chino lightly either.  A victory over Chino could be a step up the ladder for a possible title shot.

Certainly, those who have seen the FPW page may not be aware that there are seven matches on the show this coming Sunday.  The singles match between Chino Guinto and Dax Xaviera is definitely huge.  All seven matches are this coming weekend at the Baked Studios.

This blogger wishes he could be there to see it!  If you have yet to buy a ticket, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling Page on Facebook.  Thank you!

Tagay Na! Results

Hello everyone!

Here are the results below from Sunday night's World Underground Wrestling - Philippines show, Tagay Na!  The event took place before an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and great gathering of Pinoy wrestling fans at the Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City.

Also, I have some thoughts below the results.  Please, if you have a chance, to read it!

Fabio Makisig d. Isaiah Valencia.

Nigel San Jose d. Dabid Ravena and Zera.

Main Maxx d. Silent D.

Jake De Leon d. El Kapitunero.

Robin Sane d. Pinoy Bulldog

and

TZK (St. John Martin and Ken Cifer) d. High Proof (Razael and Kenta Terror) and retain the WUW Tag Team Championship.

Note:  Silent D has become a part of TZK and can defend the tag team titles via the Freebird rule!

In closing, thank you to World Underground Wrestling - Philippines in putting on a show that the fans will not forget any time soon.

To St. John Martin and the roster of both WUW - Philippines, and the new PUSO Wrestling roster, thank you for all the efforts, and keeping wrestling alive, and well, in the Philippines!  Also, to the staff, from the announcers, to photographers and those helping put the ring up, thank you too.  From this blogger, without all of you, there's no show, simple as that!

To the fans who were in attendance, and those who weren't there because of other obligations, thank you for supporting WUW - Philippines and PUSO.  Everyone's support is important right now. This blogger believes that WUW - Philippines and PUSO recognizes this and will continue to provide a good product for you.

Also, thank you to Rosh (results), Glenn-Dale (the clip from the show below), Christian, Jelson, Cholo, Andi, Ulysses, Emile, Michael, Martin, Patricia, Isaiah, Jeff, Alexander, and many others that I cannot remember (my apologies), thank you for the communication over the past couple of years.  Being about 7,000 miles away in America, without the input from all of you, posts like this wouldn't be possible.

There are good possibilities that Dexcon and WUW - Philippines will put on. at least, another show before year's end.  Also, PUSO Wrestling has mentioned that there will be an August show.  Details are forthcoming.  This blogger will have it on this blog as soon as the announcement is made!

Finally, pro wrestling will continue next Sunday, July 14th.  Filipino Pro Wrestling will have a show at the Baked Studios in Makati City.  Bell time is 2pm.  For more info, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling page on Facebook.

The copy feature regarding the clip will take some time to download here.  My apologies, but as soon as I can get it, the video will be posted below.  Thank you for your patience!

In the meantime, here is the link from last week's press conference that led to, what I've been told, was carnage at the end of the WUW Tag Team Championship match.
