SPW: Hardcore Island 2 Update #3

Hello everyone.

Let's update all of the matches regarding SPW's show, Hardcore Island 2: A Fine City.  The event is to be held at the Foo Chow Building on Friday, August 16 beginning at 7:30 pm.

Since the last post, a couple of matches have been added.

Zhan Wen, from Australia, will take on Riz in one match.  Zhan Wen just recently won a two on one handicap match at the Malaysia Pro Wrestling show last Saturday night.

Another match will feature Emman against CK Vin in a chairs match.

In a Loser Gets Caned match, Referee Ryan (yes, a referee!) will take on Bryson Blade.  I've seen just one caned match on You Tube and getting caned isn't something to be the recipient of.

Jack N' Cheese will take on the Gym Bros in an Open Challenge tag team match.

Finally, a women's Triple Threat Match will feature Alexis Lee vs. Miyu Yamashita vs. Kaya Toribami.  This will, no doubt, be a wild match for everyone to see.  Alexis Lee just came off a win at the Malaysia Pro Wrestling show this past Saturday.

For more on tickets, please visit the SPW Facebook page.  Thank you.

Gatoh Move Upcoming Show

Want to let everyone know that this blogger is enjoying the Philippines visit a whole bunch!  So much has happened in such a short time.  Have talked with several pinoy wrestling fans already and watched Summerslam with a friend of mine (which was one of the best 'Slams ever!).

And being here when the Paris Olympics is going on and seeing Carlos Yulo getting Gold twice in Gymnastics!  Amazing!  Nesthy and Aira are still competing for medals!  And then there's my favorite in the pole fault in RJ Obiena!  I got to see him live last year in a huge track and field meet at the Prefontaine Classic!  All the best to all three athletes.  You are making this country proud and we are all seeing history!

Sorry I got away from pro wrestling momentarily.  However, the latest bit of pro wrestling news needs to be posted and fast.

Homegrown pinoy pro wrestler, Jake De Leon will be traveling to Japan later this month for a show put on by Gatoh Move (also known as ChocoPro).  He will be the first pinoy pro wrestler to wrestle in Tokyo's, Korauken Hall!  This is a great honor for any wrestler, especially from outside Japan.

JDL wrestled last month in Malaysia and nearly took the Ambition Global Heavyweight Title from Shaukat in the main event of their show.  He gave Shaukat all he could handle before the latter escaped with the win.

Jake will be teaming up with SPWs, Dr. Gore (w/UMA) and Antonio Honda against three other teams.  Notables such as Shivam and Monomoth of SETUP Thailand will also be on the show.

The thing that really stands out, besides the talent at the event, is the fact that the show will take place at Korauken Hall.  The arena is a short walk from the Tokyo Dome and is the mecca for pro wrestling in Japan.  New Japan Pro Wrestling has hosted many shows there.

The event, For The Future, will take place on Saturday, August 31st beginning at 11:30 am.  Doors open at 10:45am.

I know that one wrestling fan, and friend of mine, will be in Japan, and hopefully at the show.  For those that are interested in seeing this event, please visit the Gatoh Move Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  There is a recent post where you can possibly get tickets.  Thank you.

Thank You Sponsors

This blogger has been in the Philippines now for the past 48 hours.  Each visit has always been a little better and more memorable than the previous one.  This post is a bit long, but important.

Wanted to take time to mention about PUSO Wrestling.  Since the end of the Dexcon Decada show in late May, it is fantastic how PUSO Wrestling has put things together in such a short time.

Everyone on the roster is determined to see this work, and work the right way.  Though this blogger hasn't been in the country to see what is happening, what has transpired over the past eight to nine weeks is no surprise.  No one on this roster wanted to see things go the other way, and that was for pinoy wrestling to fade away (in my words).

Determination is a positive, especially when everyone in the promotion is on the same page.  Certainly, this fan has the sense that the pinoy wrestling fans feel the same way.  This blogger has messaged several fans and each one feel the same way as I do.

There will always be people who will doubt what is happening.  However, I have never felt that with this roster, and the people behind the scenes.

Want to give a huge than you to those that are sponsoring this show.  All of you love pro wrestling, particularly pinoy wrestling as much, if not more than myself.  This blogger, the pinoy wrestling fans and PUSO Wrestling appreciates this a lot.

Some fans may wonder why that this blogger wants to sponsor this show and the future.  I'll be as brief as possible on this.

Being a wrestling fan of 56 years (yes, I'm old!), this blogger has always wanted to give a little something back to pro wrestling that it's been given to me.  I decided on this during the Covid pandemic.

My first wrestling show outside of North America was in December 2022.  Nearly two years and, soon to be five more wrestling shows, there's something magical happening at a wrestling show in Metro Manila.

More important, the pinoy wrestling fans who have followed this roster over the years, deserve to see them in two weeks, and hopefully beyond.  The roster deserves this opportunity as well.  In closing, this blogger will do what he can to help the cause.

I will see some of you in the upcoming days, and of course at the Unang Tibok show on Saturday, August 17th!  The show is at the Brawl Pit Bulusan beginning at 6pm.

Tickets are still available for the show.  Just learned that General Admission tickets are sold out.  VIP and SVIP tickets are still available!

By all means, if you are planning to go, please don't wait until the last second!  Please visit PUSO Wrestling's Facebook page for more information.  If you know anyone that would like to sponsor the upcoming show, please email PUSO Wrestling at pusowrestling@gmail.com for details.  Thank you.

MYPW Show Update #8

Just a reminder to the fans in Malaysia that Malaysia Pro Wrestling's show for this coming weekend is nearly sold out.

If you're planning to go, please check the Malaysia Pro Wrestling Facebook page for more information.  The event takes place this coming Saturday night at the KuAsh Theater TTDI beginning at 6pm.

Thank you everyone!

Unang Tibok Update #5

It's been a couple of days.  Wanted to update on the upcoming PUSO Wrestling show.  For those who are seeing this blog for the first time, the show will take place on Saturday, August 17th beginning at 6pm.  Location is the Brawl Pit Bulusan in Quezon City.

Jake De Leon, off two major matches with Zack Sabre Jr. and Shaukat in Malaysia, will face Chelsea Marie in a return match from the Pinoy Wrestling Night a few weeks back.

JDL is now on his second 100 matches of his career, and he's not taking this upcoming match lightly.  Shaukat found that out just recently when the two wrestlers butted heads at APAC Wrestling's last show.

Also, this fan believes that Chelsea Marie is training well for what will be her biggest match to date.

For more on this show, including tickets, please visit the PUSO Wrestling Facebook page.  Also, if interested in sponsoring this show, please email Puso Wrestling at pusowrestling@gmail.com for details.

This fan will be here in Quezon City for the next three weeks, including the show!

FPW Unfinished Business Update

The next Filipino Pro Wrestling show, Unfinished Business, will take place on Sunday, September 15th.  The venue is the Baked Studios beginning at 2pm.

Wrestling fans are aware about the upcoming five-on-five tag match between Team Red Ollero and Team Mike Madrigal.

The formation of this match between both teams has been brewing for quite awhile now.  The consensus is that Team Red will walk all over Team Mike.  Team Red, on paper, has the more experienced wrestlers.

However, this blogger would never rule out a team led by the FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal.  Case in point would be a recent wrestling show in Malaysia with APAC Wrestling.

In a recent four way match for the FPW title in Malaysia, Mike battled off three quality wrestlers to retain the title.  Madrigal has been the champion now for over a year and he doesn't plan on losing it anytime soon!

Though excited about the upcoming match, there is an interesting thing that is going on with FPW right now.

A "new" wrestler by the name of Jason Rex won his first match at the last FPW Astig show this past July.  Known previously as Brad Cruz in a former promotion, Jason Rex is someone that could make a lot of noise in FPW in future shows.

Jason Rex is aligned with LegenDarius as this post is being loaded for fans to read.  Knowing LegenDarius as I do, the transformation will go very well.  Jason Rex is someone to watch out for. He could go all the way up the ladder to get a title shot for the FPW title in the future!

Anyway, for more information on the show, and tickets, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

Hello everyone!

Here are the results from SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling's IWA Japan 30th Anniversary Show - Hardcore Forever.  The event took place this past Saturday at The Circus Studio in Bangkok.

The show was streamed on You Tube.  This blogger definitely enjoyed it.  Every once in awhile, it was a little hard to follow but definitely knew what was going on.  The final match was a little confusing and chaotic.  Thank you to SETUP Thailand for the stream.  All the best in the upcoming September show!

Blog Changes

Recently, this blogger started a blog in addition to this blog.  The title was Pinoy Wrestling History.  It was to share information and results from all the modern day wrestling promotions in the Philippines.  It's an ongoing project, and am doing it, for one reason.

This fan loves wrestling history.  I've found that databases such as Wikipedia, Cagematch and Wrestledata are good.  However, at times, they are incomplete!  Well, instead of complaining about it, this fan intends to do something about it.

The new blog is actually now incorporated into Pro Wrestling Today.  All the regular posts from the deleted blog are now posted in the pages section of this blog.  If one looks at the top and right second of the blog, you'll see the different pages.  Please feel free to check it out.  That is not all.

Other than PWR (which I'm working on currently), most of the results are complete with the exception of FPW (I have partial results there).  Soon, the results will be posted in the pages section as well.  This is not all either.

Since this has been a Southeast Asia blog, my intentions are to get as many results from other promotions as possible and get them on this site.  Again, the three databases mentioned are good, but they could be better.

For example, there is something incomplete right now regarding the SETUP 24/7 Title.  It isn't a major title.  However, there's a question as to who is the actual titleholder.  This blogger will have the answer probably next week since SETUP Thailand has a show on the weekend!

This blogger loves doing this blog and it's for everyone worldwide.  When checking, no one currently is doing a wrestling blog in Southeast Asia.  I'll keep everyone updated on the progress.

One final note, and this is important...  If anyone sees an error on any match result, please FM me on Facebook and I'll correct it ASAP!  I want this project to be correct for everyone!

Thanks everyone and please enjoy!

SPW: Hardcore Island 2 Update #2

One match has been added to Singapore Pro Wrestling's show, Hardcore Island 2: A Fine City.  The event will take place on Friday, August 16th at the Foo Chow Building beginning at 7:30pm.

Emman will face CK Vin in what has been determined as a Chairs Match per General Manager, Carl Hella.  This should be definitely wild!

For more information on the show, including tickets, please visit the SPW Facebook page.  Thank you.

Dexcon

This post is long, long overdue.  At the same time, it's important for me to share this with the readers.

This blogger first heard of Dexcon a little over a year ago.  It was before the summer visit to the Philippines.

I'm not sure when the idea of an organization such as Dexcon began.  However, the fact that the organization organizes pro wrestling in the Philippines is great!

This blogger was fortunate to attend a wrestling show and Meet and Greet last August.  As mentioned in a recent post, wrestlers from the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore appeared in the event.  The show that evening at the Brawl Pit Bulusan, in my mind the mecca of Pinoy wrestling, was great!

Since the August show, Dexcon has sponsored two other shows, both in 2024.

Wrestle Storm took place in March.  There were some great matches.  The featured match featured CDK (Masahiro Takanashi and Chris Brookes) versus Dabid Ravena and Jake De Leon.  This match is certainly a main event anywhere in Southeast Asia.  If people in North America knew more about the talent in Southeast Asia, this match would be treated as a main event as well.

Dexcon Decada, the second event this year, could have not come at an important time in modern day Pinoy wrestling history.  This blogger was told that Zach Sabre Jr., the world's best technical wrestler, was in demand for quite some time.  ZSJ was definitely gracious in appearing in wrestling shows in Thailand in Match and in the Dexcon Decada show.  This blogger has seen part of this match against Jake De Leon.  It may have been the best, if not most memorable in Pinoy wresting history.

Right now, it isn't known when Dexcon will have its next show.  However, the organization has set the standard in putting on quality wrestling shows.  The Pinoy wrestling fans and this blogger thanks Dexcon for keeping Pinoy wrestling going!

Masahiro Takanashi

From left to right, Chris Brookes, not sure who the lady is, Chris Brookes and Jake De Leon at the Meet And Greet prior to the Dexcon Wrestle Storm show.

In doing this post, I'm thinking of everyone who has been affected by Typhoon Carina that hit the Philippines over the past few hours.  My thoughts and prayers are with everyone at this time.

I've wanted to do a post on someone who has helped Southeast Asian wrestling over the years.  Tajiri is the first to come to mind.  Before doing one on Tajiri, my second choice, Masahiro Takanashi came to mind as well.

Masahiro Takanashi is a wrestler who works for the DDT Pro Wrestling promotion.  The 41 year old veteran has wrestled mostly in Japan.  However, he has also wrestled in the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand among Southeast Asian countries.

The two things that blew me away was the fact that he's won a combination 16 titles in his career.  Definitely impressive!

Also, if Cagematch is correct with the statistics, Masahiro Takanashi has wrestled in 2374 matches!  That is impressive considering he has wrestled since 2003.  Despite the years missed due to covid, he has averages over 100 matches per year or once every four days.  Any wrestler who has done that has to be durable.

This blogger talked with some fans who were at the Dexcon Wrestle Storm show earlier this year.  Takanashi along with Chris Brookes were the featured match in the show.  They took on a very quality team in Jake De Leon and Dabid Ravena.  It was a weekend to remember for Pinoy Wrestling fans.

MYPW Show Update #7

Hello everyone!

One match, and a good one, has been added to the upcoming Malaysia Pro Wrestling show.  Fight Back, the event, will take place on Saturday, August 3rd beginning at 6pm.  The venue is the KuAsh Theater TTDI.

Carlo Cannon will put the MYPW World Championship up against the Ace Of Thailand, Shivam.

Carlo Cannon has successfully defended the title for over 500 days now.  This match could be one of his toughest.

Shivam has won multiple champions as a member of the SETUP Pro Wrestling promotion.  His record speaks for itself!

For more information, including tickets for the show, please visit the Malaysia Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.

Congratulations Mike!

Hello everyone!

Congratulations to Filipino Pro Wrestling's FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal in successfully defending his title over the past weekend.

Mike traveled to Malaysia to take part in APAC Wrestling's show, Wrestlelegion this past Saturday night.

Mike defended the title in a Four Way Match against quality competition.  His opponents were the Aerial Sniper Nyc from RoR Wrestling in Singapore, Big Eddie Emil, definitely no slouch, and Mick Mercer, two APAC up and coming stars.  Mike came up with the win from my sources.

Now, he's back in the Philippines.  Along with Evan Carleaux, Cali Nueva, Jeffrey and James "Idol" Martinez, they will be putting their focus in the task ahead on September 15.

That will be FPW's Unfinished Business show that will take place at Baked Studios in Makati City.

Team Madrigal will be taking on Team Red Ollero. His team consists of Good Guy Quatro, Thiago and The YOLO Twins.  It appeared from some video from the past couple of shows, Team Ollero may have a slight advantage.  However, never count Team Madrigal out!  There may be a huge surprise in this encounter!

For more information including tickets, please visit the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling Facebook page.  Thank you.
