Also, homegrown champs - TZK (Ken Cifer and Saint John Martin) will put the WUW Tag Team Championship on the line.
SPW Tag Team Champions, The Horrors (Dr. Gore and Da Butcherman) will put their title on the line as well.
Also, from what I've read, Fabio Makisig, Main Maxx, Jomar MWF, Robin Sane, Zera, Razael, Dabid Ravena and more will appear at the show.
I'm told that tickets are sold out but, as always, please check the Dexcon page on Facebook for any further information. Thank you.
The blogger has been away from the blog for a couple of reasons.
First, I took a little break from blogging for personal reasons here at home.
Second, last weekend, this blogger tore the meniscus in his left knee while on a trail hike. It required surgery early this week. It went well successfully and am back home now recovering. Am able to walk a little with the help of crutches. Soon, I will go in for physical therapy to get the knee strengthened again.
Finally, I will be vacationing again in late July-early August (Philippines and one other country...possibly Singapore). My doctor okayed this yesterday figuring that the recovery will be complete by then.
Shortly, I'll catch up on some missed posts from Southeast Asia wrestling shows. Everyone, please be patient since there are 16 promotions that I've followed. I'll get updates done soon.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Last Sunday's Filipino Pro Wrestling show, FPW Astig was definitely entertaining according to sources who have shared their enjoyment with this blogger. A near capacity crowd saw exciting action at the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater.
ABS-CBN News was there for the action and actually posted some results. Here they are..
Mike Madrigal d. Thiago and Jan Evander to retain the FPW Championship.
Quatro and The YOLO Twins d. Cali Nueva, Evan Carleaux and James IDOL Martinez.
Duke Ortega d. Ralph Imabayashi.
Chino Guinto d. AB3.
Jeffrey d. Dax Xaviera.
I believe there was one other match. If anyone has that, please message me and I'll add it here.
This blogger has seen some post show footage as well as some info from fans and ABS-CBN.
First off, hats off to the FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal. I'm not posting this in a biased way. It was cool that the champion offered Robynn, who was injured prior to the event, a title shot when she recovers and returns to the ring.
Being thousands of miles away, this fan realizes that, according to ABS-CBN, Red Ollero is the owner of FPW, and is the boss!
My question to those reading this is why did Red confront Mike while he was talking with Robynn? Also, why did he get involved in the three way match with Thiago and Jan Evander? Red's statement was "no comment" on the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling page on Facebook.
Honestly, this makes for a good storyline going forward.
If anyone would like to comment, please feel free to do so on the blog or on Facebook messenger.
As soon as there is an announcement on the next show, I'll post it. Thank you.
By now, the kapafeds and Pinoy wrestling fans know that the Manila Wrestling Federation show was a huge success according to sources. A special congratulations to MWF and Kyushu Pro Wrestling in Japan on a successful show before a sold out crowd. As per the standard here, I won't post any full results until the Kasaysayan show has been shown on GANK and/or Rock Of Manila TV.
The next show is MWF Republika to be held at UP Bahay Ng Alumni on Sunday, May 12th beginning at 4pm. The 2024 Chilly Willy Wrestling Cup in its second year will be held that day.
There has been one match regarding the cup that is now official.
El Kapitunero will face Serafin Liwanag (formerly CJ Serafin) in a singles match.
Two other matches have been added besides the one Cup match.
Joya will take on Chelsea Marie in a women's single match.
Also, MWF Pinoy Wrestling Champion, Jake De Leon will face the number one contender, Main Maxx AND Fabio Makisig in a three way main event match for the title. Makisig is implementing his rematch clause from last December's Noche Buena show.
Finally, my apologies for not posting this earlier, but I'm recovering from an accident last week on public transportation in my area. Definitely feeling better and able to get back to blogging.
For more on tickets, please check the Manila Wrestling Federation page on Facebook. Thank you.
Due to an unfortunate injury to Robynn, the FPW Championship Match has been changed, and will now be a triple threat match.
FPW Champion, Mike Madrigal, will take on the Gym Bro, Thiago and The Mad Doctor, Jan Evander in a three way match. This will be nothing new for the FPW Champion since Madrigal won a three way match last year to become the first FPW Champion.
As much as I know right now, all the remaining matches have not changed. If there are any updates, I will update this post with them.
Tickets for Sunday's show are still available at ticket2me.net.
Hopefully for Robynn, this fan speaks for all FPW fans that she has a speedy recovery. Also, when she recovers, she will hopefully be the first in line for an FPW Championship title shot!
Cody Rhodes at WWE World on The Pat McAfee Show.
Normally, this post is for Southeast Asia wrestling but today, this blogger has made an exception. Hopefully, everyone will understand.
The last two days with Wrestlemania 40 in Philadelphia was epic. This blogger cannot say enough about the matches presented. I'm grateful enough to have seen all 40 Wrestlemanias with one of them, WM31 live! A couple of friends of mine who were there, said "The City Of Brotherly Love" was excellent to them during their five days there.
Besides the 14 matches (yes, we need to count Damian Priest's cash in as a match), there are two things that stick out in this fan's mind.
#1. This blogger can relate to Cody and the relationship with his dad. My father passed away at a younger age than Cody and am sure that the love for my dad was every bit as strong as in Cody's case. "Finishing The Story" was something I was behind as a fan from Day One! It had nothing to do with Paul Heyman, Roman and The Bloodline. Their storyline needed to happen because of the pandemic. This fan will always thank WWE and the faction for that. However, there needed to be a new chapter or era. Enough there.
#2. This blogger will always love pro wrestling! Yes, Michael Cole said it! And everyone that I saw on social media have said it!
For those reading this, whether in America, or the nearly 190 countries that now have read at least one blog post. The reason for a Southeast Asia wrestling blog is because of all wrestling fans, whether in Southeast Asia or elsewhere.
Following pro wrestling for 56 years now, the time has never been better. Let's enjoy it while we have it!
As part of the ten year anniversary of the modern day Philippines wrestling, here were the results of last year's MWF Kasaysayan event. The venue was the Fitness Playground PH. on Sunday, March 5th.
Danny Zamora d. Main Maxx.
Nigel San Jose and Fabio Makisig d. Jake De Leon and Ken Warren.
Crystal d. Aaron Liwanag.
Fabio Makisig d. Migs Valdez in a non title bout.
Jake de Leon d. Ken Warren in Jake's 100th career match.
Chilly Willy Wrestling Cup:
Ken Cifer d. Zera.
Razael d. Ace Clark.
Dabid Ravena d. Pablo Salvacion.
El Kapitunero d. Dante Guinoo.
Ken Cifer d. Razael.
Dabid Ravena d. El Kapitunero
Ken Cifer d. Dabid Ravena.
SETUP Thailand's next show is EP18: Clash Of The Titans. The event will take place on Saturday, May 25th at 6:30pm. The venue is The Circus Studio.
There have been several matches already lined up for the show.
Shivam will take on "The Statement" Andruew Tang in what has been described as a Hell In A Cell Bra And Panties match. Yes, that is what SETUP Thailand's page on Facebook says.
Also, Matcha, the SETUP Thailand All Asia Women's Champion will take on Monomoth and Mizuki from TJPW in a triple threat match.
There will also be a number one contender's match for the IWA Japan SETUP World Tag Team Championship. Mr. Suchart will take on Ho Ho Lun in a singles match. If either wrestler wins, the wrestler along with the tag team partner of his choice will face CDK (Chris Brookes and Masa Takanashi) sometime later in 2024 for the IWA Championship.
For more information including tickets, please check the SETUP Thailand Pro Wrestling page in Facebook. Thank you.
There has already been one match made for the show, and it is a challenge.
Chi Bao, who defeated former VPW Openweight Champion, Damien Wolfe on the last show, will take on Khoa Truong in a loser leave VPW match.
Things regarding Chi Bao became real interesting this past Saturday night. All hell broke loose at Soma Saigon during a live taping of a comedy podcast. The British Horror was a guest that evening during the taping.
Since I wasn't at the last show, and didn't see the stream, since there wasn't one, there is a reel on the Vietnam Pro Wrestling page on Facebook.
The British Horror, after making a poor comment about comedy in Vietnam, replied to a comment made by Chi Bao bu throwing water at him. A brawl ensued with Chi Bao being escorted out of the taping.
Certainly, the war between Chi Bao, Khoa Truong and The British Horror is far from over!
The great Dax Xaviera will be in action! I believe the last time fans saw him at the venue was last August at the final FPW Astig show. It will be great to see him back! His opponent has yet to be named.
Also, the man they call Jeffrey will be in action against an opponent yet to be named.
The venue is the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati beginning at 2pm.
The Blessed One, Chino Guinto, will be taking on AB3 in now, one of five matches scheduled. As mentioned on the Facebook page, this match will definitely be a banger!
Tickets are still available for this show. Please check the ticket2me.net website regarding tickets. Thank you.
While doing this post, nine years ago today, I went to my one and only Wrestlemania, WM31 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. It was definitely a moment of a lifetime.
Getting to see at least one NWA, AWA, WWE, WCW, ROH, IMPACT, NJPW and AEW shows in my area are moments not to be forgotten.
Seeing at least one wrestling show in two different states (California and Oregon) and three different countries (America, Canada and the Philippines) is something I'll treasure.
Seeing the likes of Pat Patterson, Ric Flair, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan, the late Eddie Guerrero, The Man - Becky Lynch, Bayley, MJF, Bryan Danielson, Kazuchika Okada, The Usos, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton are moments not to be forgotten.
And yet, there is one thing I've never done, and it is something I would like to do once in my lifetime.
That is to stand inside a wrestling ring and see what it is like from a wrestler, referee, ring announcer or staff member perspective. Believe it or not, it's not something I've thought of a lot. Being a fan, I've always been focused on the combatants inside the squared circle.
This blogger posts about wrestlers, wrestling matches, shows and results. But, how is it really like inside the squared circle?
This thought happened in a dream that I had last night. Obviously, this blogger has been looking at too much material in social media lately.
Hope everyone has a good and safe Holy Week weekend.
At 2pm, Filipino Pro Wrestling will have their show, FPW Astig. The live event will take place at the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater in Circuit Makati.
Here are the matches that are lined up so far.....
Mike Madrigal vs. Robynn for the FPW Championship.
Duke Ortega vs. Ralph Imabayashi.
Jan Evander vs. Thiago.
The YOLO Twins and 'Good Guy' Quatro vs. James 'Idol" Martinez, Evan Carleaux and Cali Nueva.
There are possibly more matches to be announced. It's always a good idea to check their Facebook page. Tickets for the FPW Astig show are still available by going to the ticket2me.net website! As always, please check the FPW - Filipino Pro Wrestling page on Facebook for more information.
Now, I would like to share something with the Pinoy wrestling fans (FPW, MWF, WUW and/or any combination thereof).
This fan realizes, per the Pinoy wrestling fans he knows on social media, that there are two different promotions with two shows happening on the same day (April 14th) in two different areas of Metro Manila. Because of this, up until this post, it was appropriate to separate the two shows and the information regarding both.
There was a moment recently when, at least two pinoy wrestling fans, were disappointed that the show they wanted to go to was "sold out" already. This fan had yet to respond back because of the disappointment.
There are two things that this blogger would like to share on the matter....
First and foremost.....Filipino Pro Wrestling has had their shows at the PMC Spotlight Blackbox Theater since their inception in October 2022. It is difficult to get a booking of any kind, per sources, to the venue. Since FPW Astig's last show was in February, I'm certain that they wanted to have another show within a certain time frame. It just so happened that April 14th was the best time for the show. I believe this per my sources.
Second thing, and this is just as important to everyone reading.....Though I've been to more shows of another promotion (Manila Wrestling Federation) during my Philippines' visits, it doesn't mean that I don't like, or don't care, about FPW. In fact, this fan raved about the FPW Astig show last August just as I did with the MWF and WUW shows!
Having a chance to talk and photo-op with wrestlers, wrestling fans and Red after the show that day was important. It was every bit as important, as my first Manila Wrestling Federation show with wrestlers, wrestling fans, Veronica and Tarek. It was every bit as important at the WUW (Dexcon) show last summer with wrestlers, wrestling fans, and with Saint John Martin.
In conclusion, I'm here blogging, not to change the opinion of Pinoy wrestling fans, nor to favor one promotion over another. In every sport, and in this case, sports entertainment, there is a fan base with each of the promotions. In America where I live, there is the continual bashing of the two major promotions in AEW and WWE. I've been to both promotions shows in this country over the past year because I love pro wrestling.
In saying all of this, at the same time, there's nothing wrong with liking one promotion over the other either. It's just that this fan appreciates what all the promotions try to do. Maybe, it is being a purist with the industry. The promotions are trying their best to entertain the fans the best way they know how!
On Sunday, April 14, 2024, Pinoy wrestling fans have a great opportunity like never before. One show at UP Dillman is sold out! There is NO reason, other than other obligations one might have that day, why the FPW show cannot do the same! Having two sold out shows will show wrestling fans throughout Southeast Asia that wrestling fans are alive and well in the Philippines! It will put the rest of Southeast Asia on notice.
Please have a good day everyone!
